Some are families looking to unwind and disconnect from their devices in the heart of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Still others are adventure seekers looking to ride through the canopy of the Blue Ridge Mountains on a zip line, try their hand at our 3-D archery range or earn their next badge.
But what few have discovered, is the perks of traveling through the North Georgia Mountains during the sleepy months of Winter.
5 Reasons to Book the Quiet Season at Unicoi State Park & Lodge
#1 Great Rates
Unicoi State Park & Lodge offers great rates on newly renovated guest rooms in the lodge during the quiet season. The rates are comparably lower than when booking a stay during the peak Spring Break, Summer Vacation and Leaf Peeping/Oktoberfest seasons.
#2 No Reservations Required for Onsite Dining
When dining in the Smith Creek Tavern, the sports bar located within Unicoi Lodge, or the Lodge’s casual dining restaurant, no reservations are required. Year-round their culinary team provides some of the best dishes available in the Helen, GA area using locally sourced ingredients.
#3 Trail Sharing Optional
Tired of the hustle and bustle of life, then spend time re-connecting with nature where you can truly be one-on-one with your natural surroundings. Unicoi State Park offers a number of hiking trails with many degrees of difficulty. The park is dog-friendly, however, they require that all animals be kept on a leash at all times.
#4 Experience Helen on the streets less traveled
Experience the nearby Bavarian town of Alpine Helen, GA with fresh eyes and without the layers of summer and Oktoberfest visitors. Just a couple miles down the road from the Lodge, Unicoi State Park & Lodge offers a shuttle to and from town during certain times of the day.
#5 No Waiting Allowed
Enjoy one of the many outdoor adventure activities available year-round including archery, air gun range, fly fishing and tomahawk throwing. Reservations for activities can be made online ahead of your arrival. Some overnight stay packages on the website includes adventure activities.
BONUS TIP: Find your Sweet Spot
Whether it is enjoying something sweet off the dessert cart in the lodge’s restaurant or sampling fudge in the Bavarian fudge shops of downtown Helen, this North Georgia Mountains town has something to satisfy every sweet tooth.
